For Jack
Charity Poker Northwest isn't even a viable business yet but a cause has risen in our community that I feel needs to be addressed. Let me explain. At Cedar Mill Elementary School there is a third grade student, Jack Fried, who has been stricken by cancer. My ten-year-old daughter came home and told me a counselor had come into her class and explained about Jack's situation, the grieving process and that Jack wasn't going to be with us much longer. A couple nights later the Cedar Mill dad's got together for our quarterly poker night and we decided we needed to do something.
WE HAVE A VENUE!
Portland Hilton has graciously agreed to let us host the event at Alexanders on the 23rd floor!
When: Friday, February 8th. Doors open at 6pm, cards start at 7pm.
Where: Portland Hilton - 921 SW Sixth Ave. Portland 97204
Many, Many thanks go out to Doug Brecht and Sheila Shelton and Julia for their support.
What We Are Doing
We are planning a poker event to be held in a couple weeks. The sooner the better from what I understand. I am trying to secure a donated venue that will include table cloths etc. I am thinking we can all purchase our own chip sets and cards if the attendence grows as large as we are hoping. More on this later, right now we are looking for sign ups. Open up your hearts and your wallets folks, there isn't a better cause.
